DoNews, December 1 (Reporter Ding Fan) Recently, foreign media reported that Samsung Electronics' panel manufacturer Samsung Display will start trial operation of the QD-OLED (Quantum Dot Organic Light Emitting Diode) production line next month . This new production line is called Q1, located in Asan City, South Korea, and is mainly responsible for the production of QD-OLED panels. QD-OLED panel is a display screen that combines OLED screen and quantum dot technology.

In August last year, foreign media reported that Samsung Display had cut the production capacity of LCD screens at the Asan plant and was preparing to switch to QD-OLED screens. The shift from LCD to QD-OLED is Samsung Display's strategic decision to respond to the high-end TV market in the next few years. Now, the LCD market is flooded with cost-effective Chinese products, which have eroded the profitability of enterprises, and QD-OLED is emerging as the next generation of HDTV technology.

It is reported that Samsung Display began to install the 8.5-generation QD-OLED etching equipment from early July this year. At that time, the company said that it would complete the construction of the production line before the end of this year and would start mass production in 2021. Foreign media said that starting from December this year, Samsung Display will take about three months to complete the necessary production steps, and it will take about six months to stabilize the yield.

It is reported that the first QD-OLED panel production line (Q1 production line) can reach a monthly production capacity of 30,000 pieces when operating at full capacity.
