According to the report, Samsung Display will start trial production of QD-OLED panels in the first quarter of 2021 (combining backlight and self-luminous technologies, plus Samsung’s proud quantum dot technology), and plans to start formal production in the second quarter , Its first QD-OLED panel production line (Q1 production line) can produce 30,000 glass plates per month, which can accommodate 65-inch 8K TV panels (3 units) and 32-inch 4K display panels (18 units). The annual output of 65-inch QD-OLED panels is expected to reach 800,000.

Currently, what Samsung is doing is to expand the production capacity of QD-OLED panels, which can pave the way for subsequent cost reductions.

Since Samsung announced its plan to invest in quantum dot technology OLED panels in October last year, its factories have dismantled the L8 production line used to produce LCD TV screens, and recently completed the construction of a dust-free factory for the quantum dot OLED panel production line. Started to install the 8.5-generation vapor deposition equipment. Samsung plans to complete the construction of the quantum dot technology OLED panel production line within 2020 and officially commercialize it in 2021.

In fact, the upgrade of QD-OLED is more perfect. Not only can it provide better color performance than LED, it does not have the "burn-in" phenomenon of OLED, but it is obviously inferior to OLED in terms of viewing angle, so displays of different materials , The strengths and weaknesses are not too the same.
