Currently LG Display is the Apple iPhone LCD panel supplier, iPhone LCD screen is from LG Display, but iPhone X's OLED screen is exclusively supplied by Samsung.
Earlier there was news that LG has invested in the establishment of small-size OLED screen production line, with the larger rival Samsung compete for iPhone orders.
According to "Financial Times" report, LG Display plans to supply OLED panels for Apple's next-generation iPhone from the end of this year.
Affected, LG Display shares soared to a new high for a month. LG Display shares rose 3.35% to 30,805 won in early trading Wednesday, surpassing the 0.2% gain in the Korea Composite Index.
Korean media said that LG will provide more than 15 million OLED panels for Apple, these OLED panels will be used on the new generation of iPhone, is expected to be released later this year.
Currently Samsung led the small size OLED screen market, LG as the world's second largest panel maker, its main focus on large-size LCD panel. If LG Display becomes iPhone's OLED supplier, Apple's bargaining power is also expected to be improved.
