Company News >> AU Optronics wants to build the next generation LCD factory to produce 50-60 inch panels 30th,Mar,2017
The world's third largest thin film transistor liquid crystal display panel (TFT-LCD) manufacturers Taiwan's AU Optronics recently said that its next-generation LCD plant to be launched in the second half of 2009, began production 50-60 inch panel.
AUO is a supplier of Dell (DELL) and Hewlett-Packard (Hewlett-Packard). It plans to build a next-generation LCD plant to meet the growing demand for flat-panel TVs and will decide which technology to use before the end of the year. While Samsung Electronics and LG Philips and other panel manufacturers, previously there are similar expansion plans.
"We are taking into account the cash flow, the season cycle and the timing, and our capital spending is really limited," said Chen Chuan-bin, general manager of AU Optronics, in an interview with Reuters. "(LCD) area shipments are growing at a high speed and we are studying how capacity will be digested. "
Chen said that the company's capital expenditure in 2008 may be due to the construction of new plants, compared with the current estimate of 90 billion Taiwan dollars (about 2.8 billion US dollars) "slightly" increase. But he said the new plant would not hurt AUO's goal of continuing to achieve a 15% return on equity (ROE). AUO hopes to reduce the cost of raw materials, the overall cost structure to cut up to 20%.
AUO said earlier this week, flat-panel TV LCD panel sales will show double-digit growth, but the more mature desktop computer market this quarter may be weak.
